Never in the history of the Internet has there been as great an opportunity to make money online then there is at present. In addition, it has never been easier for you to have an online presence.

Not many years ago, the only way to get free traffic to your website was to be ranked on the first page of Google. The only realistic alternative was to pay to advertise on Google to obtain prospects.

Pay per click advertising for our two best keywords cost twelve-dollars and fifteen-dollars per click, respectively. It is clear that thousands of dollars can be spent quickly advertising on Google. One hundred clicks would cost twelve-hundred dollars to fifteen-hundred dollars which was a lot of money for a new business just getting started online. Consequently,  we worked hard at Search Engine Optimization and the end result was that we ranked in the top four positions on Google for our most sought after keywords. Today, it is not unusual to hear of an online business to rank on the first page of Google within a couple of days, but it was highly unusual eleven years ago.

Today, ranking on the first page of Google is great, but it’s not nearly as important as it once was because now there are many other ways for people to find your website on the internet. They can discover your website through blogs, social networking sites, YouTube, cheap advertising, and many other ways.

In fact, I attended a seminar where Jeff Johnson (an internet guru) produced a video that ranked on the first page of Google three days later, for the key word phrase he was targeting. If you would like, you can find a significant collection of Jeff’s videos on YouTube.

Now, there are social networking sites like Facebook,  that didn’t exist ten years ago, that have search volumes similar to Google. How does that fact influence any strategy you construct to market your online business? You have to be on Facebook, or you will miss a huge market.

To have an online business eleven years ago, you had to know HTML code (Hyper Text Markup Language) to build a website. Now, you can set up a blog on many Web 2.0 sites and without any technical programming background. You can build your marketing page, monetize it and begin marketing online in a day.

Only a fraction of the world’s population was online eleven years ago. Today there are 1.73-trillion people online. In other words, one out of every four people in the world is online. No matter how you slice it, that is a enormous market.

In my opinion, there has never been a better time to make money online than there is today. The only question remaining is: Will you seize this huge opportunity and claim your share of the market?
