Marketing is all about showing off your good image and for that to be maintained, you should have lots of contacts and connections to back you up. Socializing plays an extra role since many of the consumers that frequently venture the net are young while older folks are getting introduced with online socialization. You can also notice some of the top companies that normally take things seriously dip to the socializing end for attraction and to keep up with current trends.

How it Leads to Social Networking

Because socializing plays an important role in marketing and Internet marketing methods are being more practiced than ever before, social networking is the way to go. This is good news if you are heavily into social networking before you set your interests on marketing because you do not have to learn the basics of your favorite social networking websites. All you need to know is which social networking tools can be used to help market whatever website, product, or service you are promoting.

How to Get Going

You can start by refining your existing social networking profiles so they can be capable of marketing tools. Edit your profile and try to fill as many fields as you can so others will be willing to be your direct contact. Being transparent about yourself is one good way to make relations with others. Do not forget to put the website that you are promoting on your profile page as well. Setting the profile page as a public page is even better so search engines may pick up your posted link too.

If you do not have many contacts, you can work on finding your old friends or relatives before you seek out new people. People that notice that you have many contacts are more likely to be willing to be a part of your network. It is also good to find new people that have the same interests as you. You may find other fellow Internet marketers that have lots of their own contacts. Add those people so you can communicate with their contacts. Try to socialize even more by joining groups where you think your advertisement will attract them.

Once you received a steady flow of traffic from one social networking site, register in other social networking sites to extend your reach. Social marketing is an effective way to attract some real people that you can actually interact with whether it is personal or business.

I just came back from a seminar in Atlanta this past weekend that focused on internet marketing.  Several fantastic speakers talked about using social media for the marketing of your business and a light bulb went off in my head – I can use this information to make a difference in the community where I live.

I live in a rural part of Florida in Suwannee County and have noticed that many young women repeat the cycle of their surroundings.  They drop out of school and get pregnant – that’s it.  Unfortunately, the economy is making this scenario worse in that the jobs that some of these women were able to get, they no longer have due to being laid off.   Most of the women don’t work – they rely on government assistance which seems to be a cycle difficult to break.

It doesn’t have to be this way.  If we can reach just one young woman and get her started with her own online business to take care of her family and support herself, we may have a domino effect.   It must be understood that there is “work” involved in building a business – it doesn’t happen by itself.  No one is going to magically build it for you and say – here you go.  Besides, it wouldn’t be appreciated since no sweat and tears went into building the business.
